To keep this board from becoming a complete dead zone I thought I'd post something about this episode. Don't everyone comment at once.
I was kind of excited to see this episode because the story sounded a lot like "A Bullet Runs Through It" and I was hoping for some sort of acknowledgment to Jim shooting a cop. As it turns out, well, I'll get to that. I posted my longer comments over on my LJ. Here are the parts I liked:
Best scene: Jim comes busting out of his office, totally dissing Ecklie so calls out to Jim. Jim is oozing pissed-offness. Jim probably would have kicked puppies at this point. We find out that Jim has found out that Finn knew the DG (dead guy) and that they worked together for four months. Finn also has complaints lodged against him from DG. DG says Finn is a racist. Up until this person, Jim felt bad for Finn. Probably understood what the guy was going through. Jim now thinks Finn is an ass. Btw. Finn's union rep lawyer guy often appears as doofy man in commercials. Kind of kills his credibility.
Jim is a stud in his shades. And I love all the posturing he does when he walks up to the scene with Finn and his rep. Finn kind of loses it while they are reenacting the shooting and goes off on the lookie-loo's. Nick says Finn is a little prickly (this is the nice way to call someone a prick on network TV). Jim tells Nick to cut Finn some slack, he's under a lot of pressure. Jim knows that kind of pressure and Nick knows this too. Nick doesn't argue with Jim.
And for the holy crap! moment of the episode and the last four seasons: Someone finally remembered that Brass shot a cop! Jim says he knows the depression but I really wish he would have answered Finn when Finn asks him if he cried on some couch to the shrink.
Not sure what I think about this new detective. I like him better than Vartann and Cavaliere but I do wonder if maybe they are bringing him slowly so he can take over for PG should he leave after this season.
