About Claude and Peter

Claude and Peter met by chance - or through destiny? - in New York, when Peter was awoken from a coma by a dream showing him blowing up New York with Ted Sprague's nuclear powers. Peter saw the invisible Claude in the street thanks to his powers, the first to see him in 8 years. Claude's immediate reaction was to attempt to throttle him, before leaving in a huff. However, after some coaxing, Claude returned to help Peter... although it was by insulting him, throwing him off the top of a building and beating him up with a stick. Thanks to Claude's unsual training, Peter gained some control over the powers he had absorbed, and could start hoping to save New York. However, their relationship was cut short by the Company showing up and trying to capture Claude. Peter saved him by flying away with him, but Claude's trust was broken and he left Peter to fend for himself.

Claude is a distrustful, paranoid character, haunted by a past in which he was betrayed by his partner and hunted by a Company to which he had been devoted. Peter is an optimist, his head full of ideals and dreams of making the world a better place, an attitude that Claude dismisses, though it may well be that Peter reminds him of himself, before he became so bitter. After all, both characters are sensitive and caring, deep down, although Claude's gentleness is only expressed through his love of pigeons. Their separation seems to have come too early, with too many things unresolved, when it was clear that they both needed each other a lot. We can only hope that they will be brought back together someday.
