About The Fanlistings
A fanlisting is a list of fans from
all countries. The idea of the fanlistings originated from Janine Mischor, who
created The Fanlistings.
About "Spiral"
"Spiral" is the sequel to "Ring". It was written by Koji Suzuki and published
in 1995 in Japan under the title "Rasen". The novel is available in Japanese (as "Rasen"), Chinese,
French (as "Double Hélice"), English, Italian and German (as "Spiral").
The novel tells the story of Mitsuo Ando, a forensic surgeon who's grieving the death of his son, and is
called to perform an autopsy on Ryuji Takayama, an old school mate, who died mysteriously.
This autopsy brings Ando closer to Mai Takano, Ryuji's student, and pushes him to start a
personal investigation to find out what happened to Ryuji. Before they know it, Ando and Mai are pulled
into Sadako's plans for the future of humanity... (see the Extras page for more)
Is "Ringu 2" or "Ring 2" inspired by "Spiral"?
No. There is a movie and several TV series in Japan that tell the story of "Spiral".
"Ringu 2" and "Ring 2" are original scenarios derived from the "Ring" movies. They
bear no resemblance whatsoever with "Spiral", which is more of a supernatural thriller than a horror
story. In fact, you can read "Spiral" witout having read or seen "Ring" beforehand.
What is "Rasen" and why the DNA picture?
As I'm a sucker for original versions, I thought it was only fair for the fanlisting
to bear the same name as the novel's original title, "Rasen". "Rasen" means "spiral" or "helix"
in Japanese. The DNA picture is one of the story's main themes, and the title
of the novel suggests the spiral shape of a DNA molecule.
