What is a Fanlisting
A fanlisting is a list of fans from all countries. The idea of the fanlistings originated from Janine Mischor, who created The Fanlistings. This fanlisting is open to anyone who enjoys the relationship between Snape and Lupin. This can be the relationship that they have in the Harry Potter canon or taking it a step further and seeing it as a romantic relationship. (note: a fanlisting is not a mailing list - if you want to discuss Snape/Lupin, please go to the Resources page)
Why Snape/Lupin?
Severus Snape and Remus Lupin from the Harry Potter books constitue a very interesting antithesis. Snape is cruel and bitter, Lupin is kind and sweet. Snape is dark and elegant, Lupin is luminous and scruffy. Snape hates Harry Potter, whilst Lupin takes him under his wing. Yet they share many things, the fascination for the Dark Arts, a tendency to be outcasts, and a final decision to follow Dumbledore even though they could be on Voldemort's side (as ex-Deatheater and Dark Creature, respectively). Although very little is said in canon about what their relationship exactly is, there's a tremendous amount of tension between the two characters, as seen in "Prisoner of Azkaban", and there seems to be potential for fondness or understanding between them despite their big differences, as seen in "Order of the Phoenix". The relationship between them is made interesting by this potential for extremely strong feelings, and also by how each character can learn of the other and grow from there to become perhaps a little more balanced.
Why Wolf and Raven?
Obviously, the Wolf stands for Remus Lupin, as he turns into one on every full moon. The Raven represents Severus Snape, for many reasons, mostly because of his physical appearance (beaky nose, black clothes, black eyes, etc), but also because of the Raven that symbolises despair and dread in Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven". The Wolf and the Raven were seen also as partners in the Germanic culture (thanks to Spydre for this addition).
